Baking for me has always been a pleasure, cooking not so much. My mother wont mind me saying but she is'nt the most accomplished chef and neither am i! However, baking has always been my vice, my thing, my relaxation- i guess my escape. I have very fond memories of baking with my nan- sat on her worktop thinking "this is life". We baked cakes, used the magic mixer and regularly made chocolates in all animal shapes. Literally the best memories ever. As I got older, i ventured into the realm of tom & jerry cake mixes with the sugar paper toppers and even once convinced my dad to buy me the celebration cake mix at around four pounds-back then, that was alot!! Cheers dad, you crazy nutter!
Now I'm a self confessed kitchenaid whore- if it doesnt use my mixer, im not interested. Everything hand wisked is far too much effort- now i can offically say that as a Secondary School Food Technology Teacher where we have ZERO kitchenaids and only hand held wisks which we use twice- a celebration cake and a swiss roll. For everything else, EVERYTHING is done by hand. Bingo wing work out for the creaming method of cold marg & sugar and pastry making etc! So on my home days, i deserve the pleasure of my pink dreamboat doing all the hard graft for me.
I would love your help to make new recipes and any ideas of cakes, cookies and bakes, please let me know.
Although my baking is msotly fun, i take the odd order here and there. So if you are local to Derby or Nottingham and would like a bake making for you- let me know on the contact page or instagram direct message.
Love Lily x
