And now pumpkin fever is over... it’s time to summarise our autumnal experiences.

Noah is an utter pumpkin lover. Which meant that at the start of the month, we took a lovely little drive(lucky for us) to Maxey’s Farm Shop in Nottingham to test out their barrows and their pumpkin + toffee apple ice creams!  We thought we do go before the crowds; we visisted with some friends one afternoon; the field was quiet & the activities were readily available. I would highly recommend visiting before the Halloween half term & rush; you can always go back for an ice cream and a wander if you have withdrawals before the day.

We love Maxey’s Farm Shop, aptly named “ppppppp-pick up a pumpkin” as it’s free to enter the field & Then there are a variety of themed experiences which are mostly charged at £1. A pumpkin bouncy castle, a tractor ride and a free walk through the woods a which was all decorated. The farm shops week worth a visit, their strawberries were the yummiest I’ve had all year & the meringues which were rainbows&ghosts were amazing and only 30p each!

We also visited another local pumpkin farm, under the strict instruction of not buying another pumpkin! Which we did actually manage. Mr.Pumpkin is a farmers field with a pop up event; this year they had fair rides at £3 each time per person, face painting at £2 and food and drinks. The pumpkin field had a beautiful little maize maze. Alll themed of course.  We took an afternoon stroll around here and managed not to spend a penny; had a little walk, a look at what was going on in the beautiful autumn sunshine. It goes to say, we had the best afternoon and I didn’t spend anything! Which made up for last years blue pumpkin costing me £8!

We really enjoyed pumpkin picking & did buy far too many, not only from the fields but from the supermarket shelves for a quarter of the price. I totally understand we need to support the farmers who put on these wonderful events; but, buying one or two from the farms & the rest of the displays we create can come from the retailers competing to give us the American Halloween for a bargain price!

Happy Pumpkin Picking 🎃
